CoBAD – Schwartz, Simonson, Pham & Mesarwi

The Control of Breathing and Airway Defense (CoBAD) International Online Seminar Series featured Alan Schwartz, MD; Tatum Simonson, PhD; Luu Pham, MD; & Omar Mesarwi, MD, on Friday, March 26th at 3:00 pm ET. Dr. Schwartz is a world-renowned sleep medicine specialist with a patient-centered approach to diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. Dr. Simonson is the John B. West Endowed Chair in Respiratory Physiology in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego. She applies integrative physiological genomics approaches to understand systems-level responses to hypoxia in highland populations. Dr. Pham is an assistant professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. His focus is on the diagnosis and management of sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Mesarwi is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego. His work focuses on metabolic dysfunction in obstructive sleep apnea. Their seminar was entitled: “Genetics and physiology of hypoxia responses: From mountain tops to bench tops to the clinic.”
