Dr. Emily Fox, BREATHE Steering Committee member and Director of Neuromuscular Research at Brooks Rehabilitation, presented “Strategies to Augment Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation: Promoting Breathing and Walking Recovery” on Tuesday, April 27 at 7 pm EST. This presentation was part of the Brooks/UF-PHHP Collaboration Research Connection Series. Spinal cord injury impairs critical functions such as breathing and walking. Although rehabilitation can enhance outcomes, gains are often limited and difficult to sustain. New strategies to promote neuroplasticity and augment rehabilitation are emerging, many of which can be used in combination with rehabilitation and in real-world clinical settings. This webinar discussed new strategies, early clinical outcomes and next steps in translation to SCI clinical care.
