The BREATHE Center will host Dr. Brian Dlouhy, Associate Professor at the University of Iowa, on September 15 (12-1pm) in Communicore Building (C1-009). In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Dlouhy leads a human brain research lab that focuses on forebrain control of breathing and how the forebrain responds and perceives one’s breath. This research has led to novel insights into how seizures cause loss of breathing and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). He will present: How the Forebrain Controls & Responds to Breathing with Implications for Disease – Findings from Human Intracranial EEG Studies.
