BREATHE postdocs, Drs. Alex Marciante, Sabhya Rana, and Michela Mir, were recently promoted by the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions. Congratulations to all!
Dr. Alex Marciante, a former BREATHE T32 postdoc fellow, currently serves as a Research Assistant Scientist (Department of Physical Therapy) in Dr. Gordon Mitchell’s lab. With the support of her recent K99/R00 award from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) she studies how the APOE4 gene interacts with other triggers of neuroinflammation to undermine respiratory plasticity in a time-of-day-dependent manner.
Dr. Sabhya Rana currently serves as a Research Assistant Scientist (Department of Physical Therapy) in Dr. David Fuller’s lab. With the support of her recent K99/R00 award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) she studies non-invasive spinal stimulation strategies to enhance respiratory function following spinal cord injury.
Dr. Michela Mir, a former BREATHE T32 postdoc fellow, currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences where she teaches in the SLP master’s program. Her research focuses on improving diagnostic and rehabilitation methods for upper airway functions in clinical populations.
