Leah Reznikov Awarded R01 from NHLBI

Leah Reznikov

Congratulations to BREATHE Member, Leah Reznikov, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiological Sciences! Dr. Reznikov was recently awarded a $1.25M R01 grant from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for her research into “Central Nervous System Plasticity in Airway Disease.” Abnormal amygdala function is responsible for anxiety, a common comorbidity in asthma that is associated with poorer asthma control and decreased quality of life. Dr. Reznikov and her team will seek to uncover how asthma impacts the amygdala and the mechanisms that link amygdala function with asthma control to reveal new targets for intervention.
